When a peer-reviewed science paper is suppressed on social media…
There could be several reasons why my recently published peer-reviewed work titled “Melatonin: Regulation of Viral Phase Separation and Epitranscriptomics in Post-Acute Sequelae of COVID-19” is removed from my timeline on Facebook.
1. The content is not understood by people responsible for fact-checking.
2. The content does not align with agenda of the organization.
3. The content does not promote the financial interests of the organization.
What is the content of my paper? https://www.mdpi.com/1422-0067/23/15/8122
🧐 The paper explains how liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS) in viruses, especially SARS-CoV-2, can lead to common long-term symptoms associated with COVID-19, such as fatigue, post-exertional malaise (PEM), loss of concentration and/or memory lapses, cognitive impairment (“brain fog”), shortness of breath, chest pain, joint pain, neurological or cardiovascular symptoms (e.g., myocardial inflammation, palpitations and tachycardia), and other autoimmune dysfunction.
🧐 The paper explains in great detail how phase separation of the nucleocapsid protein and virulence factors E protein/Nsp1 in SARS-CoV-2 are responsible for:
❌ Suppression and evasion of first-line immune response.
❌ Suppression and evasion of host-genes that mount effective immune responses.
❌ Interference with host phase separation and suppression of “triage” condensate formation that protect host essential stress response pathways.
❌ Hijacking and dismantling host biomolecular condensates, formed in response to stress, to enhance viral replication and dissemination.
🥺 Formation of “viral factories” that are responsible for replication, dissemination, and viral persistence that may be the principle underlying cause for the development of PASC (Post-Acute Sequelae of COVID-19).
😖 Damage to mitochondrial energy production (switching from OXPHOS to glycolysis).
😖 Suppression and hijacking of essential mitochondrial bioenergetics to enhance viral replication.
😖 Activation of cytokine storms by NLRP3 inflammasomes.
😖 Activation of LINE1 to cause transcriptomic and epitranscriptomic changes to host genes via global hypomethylation. LINE1 activation…
